Chicagoland Builders Want To Know More About The NCA

Poupore discusses the NCA and the trends in today’s construction industry with local Chicago contractors and construction professionals. |
On October 19, 2006, the topic was all about the NCA. Ray Poupore, Executive Vice President of the NCA, invited to be the keynote speaker, gave an hour-long presentation on the NCA, its goals and objectives, and explained how the NCA was formed to address the evolving construction industry.
"The construction industry has changed, and we have to change with it,” states Poupore, speaking to an attentive audience, enthusiastic about the NCA and its new approach. He referred to the creation of the NCA as forward thinking and progressive, giving credit to the leaders of the affiliated unions. “The three General Presidents [O’Sullivan – Laborers, Giblin – Operators, McCarron – Carpenters] are the brightest, sharpest leaders in today’s labor industry”. In order to grow, however, the NCA must maintain its base, regain market share and reach out to contractors at the same time. This partnership will be the key to the success of both the NCA and its contractor customers.

Optimistic about the NCA and its new direction, members of the Chicago Builders Association listen intently as the overall structure and mission of the NCA is laid out. |
The Chicago Builders Association is the leading trade association in the Chicagoland area, serving the commercial and construction industry. This year, they are celebrating their 100th anniversary. Member companies, who also belong to the Associated General Contractors of America (AGCA), include the leading contractors and suppliers in the area. The general contractor members range from large national firms to smaller specialized companies who build private and public projects worth more than $4 billion annually. Their territory currently spans the 16 contiguous counties in the Chicago area, as well as Lake and Porter counties in Indiana and Kenosha and Walworth counties in Wisconsin. Their notable share of the market in that area results in over 13,000 jobs.
“We look forward to working closely with our industry partners, such as the Chicago Builders Association”, ends Poupore. The early morning session closed with questions from the group.
