The milestone opening of the Woodrow Wilson Memorial Bridge “outer loop” bridge span means that commuters in the Washington, DC, metropolitan area, thanks to the hard working men and women of the National Construction Alliance Heavy and Highway Division, can breathe a little easier during their commute around the Capital Beltway.

On May 18, 2006, six years after boots hit the ground in October, 2000, the new span was dedicated at an auspicious ceremony attended by some 1400 dignitaries including the Mayor of Washington, DC, the Governors of Maryland and Virginia and the Secretary of Transportation.

“The best news we received from the dedication ceremony was that the bridge opened on time and under budget”, says Raymond J. Poupore, Executive Vice President of the National Construction Alliance. Senator John Warner (R-VA), also present, said “[the bridge] was worth every penny”, and Poupore adds “our workers were worth even more!”

“The National Construction Alliance [formerly the National Heavy and Highway Alliance] has maintained a proven track record for more than a half century, building projects with quality craftsmanship on time and within budget through its labor-management partnership,” says Poupore.
